Jay-Z “Decoded” campaign wins Integrated Grand Prix and Titanium at Cannes
Article by: Fast Company
New York agency Droga5 continued its hot streak at the Cannes International Festival of Creativity with big wins for its Bing/Jay-Z “Decoded” campaign in the key Titanium/Integrated Lions category. The campaign won the Integrated Grand Prix and nabbed a Titanium Lion, winning over a jury that was “looking for the bravest idea.”
The Titanium Lion was launched in 2003 to recognize emerging forms of brand work that wouldn’t neatly fit into the existing award categories; the Integrated Lion was added in 2005, though the definition of what falls under each title has been fluid.
Jury chair Bob Scarpelli, the chairman of DDB Worldwide, acknowledged that the definition of an integrated campaign has shifted and that today, “the best ideas are integrated into culture.” Scarpelli called the campaign, which has also picked up Grand Prix in the Outdoor and Film Craft categories, “bold, innovative, interactive, immersive. It’s creating media.” There was no Titanium Grand Prix awarded.
Star Wars: The Blueprints Book
Star Wars: The Blueprints brings together, for the first time, the original blueprints created for the filming of the Star Wars Saga. Drawn from deep within the Lucasfilm Archives and combined with exhaustive and insightful commentary from best-selling author J. W. Rinzler, the collection maps in precise, vivid, and intricate detail the very genesis of the most enduring and beloved story ever to appear onscreen.
“Most importantly, Blueprints shows how in bringing this extraordinary epic to life, the world of special effects as we know it was born. For the first time, here you will see the initial concepts behind such iconic Star Wars scenes as the Rebel blockade runner hallways, the bridge of General Grievous’s flagship, the interior of the fastest “hunk of junk” in the Galaxy, and Jabba the Hutt’s palace. Never before seen craftsmanship and artistry is evident whether floating on the Death Star, escaping on a speeder bike, or exploring the Tatooine Homestead.” Star Wars: The Blueprints is a limited edition, hand-numbered run of 5,000 copies.
Nike Air 180 Black White Solar Red
Still one of my favourite running shoe’s from the 90’s. Nothing beats a nice clean colour way with a few highlights. A good all round edition for all occasions.
Dear readers…
It’s been a long wait, but I’m back on the blog grind. There’s still a few creases to iron out with the function and look of the site, but it feels like it’s got some legs to it now. If you followed my old blog at www.tuhinternational.blogspot.com you’ll start to notice I’m trying to make the new and improved site a little more personal on projects I’m working on and I hope the site can be used as a guide for travel, fashion etc. Feedback is welcome and I look forward to the future of the new tuhinternational.
Enjoy,
Luke Norris
Characters I’m working on with Mac Aspinall from Monocle Magazine
Say hello to three characters I’m currently working on with illustrator Marc Aspinall from Monocle Magazine. We’re still going back and forth on tweaking the look of each character, but it’s been a great test on our communicating skill, with Marc being based in the UK and I in Hong Kong. It’s a cool thought to be able to complete a project without meeting face to face. Only the use of email, facebook and SMS. I can’t say too much yet on what they’ll be used for yet, but I can’t wait to put some colour to these guys are start applying them to some mediums.

Tesco Homeplus ‘Virtual Supermarket’
As part of a campaign by advertising agency Cheil, train commuters in Seoul can now grocery shop while they wait for their train to arrive at the platform. A large billboard was installed along the platform, recreating a Tesco Homeplus supermarket with each item marked with a QR code. By scanning the codes onto their smartphones, commuters are able to add the item into their shopping cart online and after purchase, will be delivered to their homes. Genius!

Photographer Sherwood Forlee presents the Walls Notebook. Such an obvious idea that I’m surprised it was done sooner. It’s a compilation of alleys and streets for adults and kids to go nuts drawing and doodling in. The Walls Notebook is available at Amazon for USD$11.

Original Fake Fall/Winter 2011 Collection
For me, the Original Fake collections over the past few years has been a little hit and miss. Some great pieces and some so-so ones. This latest collection for Fall/Winter 2001 seems to be more refined with a number of classic pieces, incorporating the KAWS artwork and the added attention to detail from designer Tomohiro Konno. Lovin’ some of the coats.
