Incredible movie magic video showing off the VFX you didn’t even notice in THE WOLF OF WALL STREET
Here’s an awesome video that shows off some of the more challenging shots that were put together by a VFX team in Martin Scorsese’s new film The Wolf of Wall Street. It’s always crazy to see a film you’d think would be all practical use so much movie magic to make the final product happen.

The Hypebeast Hundred
Check out the complete list of Hypebeast’s Hundred HERE
Whether by effort, skill or often both, 2013 offered up many names deserving of accolades; newcomers and veterans, varying in practice from music, art, and fashion to technology and media. Aiming to sensibly account for all achievements worth noting in 2013 is a lofty task, and while there are many deserving of commendation, this list pays respects to those that made the biggest leaps.
The big picture seems to revolve around the continual growth of a global culture through which news and trends can instantaneously spread. It is no longer surprising when something goes viral, rather it is expected. The digital age persists in creating and killing celebrities, seemingly offering a new name each day. In 2013, the overlap carried on; and never has there been a more eclectic mix involving street culture, with high fashion, sportswear and hip-hop all playing their parts. Street goths, bucket hats and floral prints arrived in full force, activewear and function became more prominent, rappers co-mingled with streetwear influencers, and multinational corporations patiently took notes. Meanwhile, we bore witness to Miley’s twerk seen around the world, Kanye unleashed the brilliance of Yeezus and a following barrage on radio programs, and it was our mission to keep you updated along the way. We present to you our inaugural listing of The HYPEBEAST Hundred.
Nendo Reinvents the Chopstick by turning two into one
Your chopsticks can make your food taste better, claims Hashikura Matsukan, a chopstick manufacturer steeped in 400 years of history. But how can you improve on, or reinvent, something that’s been around for so long? Something that’s been refined so many times? It’s just 2 sticks that taper to a point, right? Well that’s exactly where Oki Sato from Nendo turned to, when he was asked to redesign a series of chopsticks.
“Chopsticks ordinarily come in pairs,” explains Sato, “but the rassen chopsticks are a single unit. They’re separated into two for eating, then rejoined into one form when not in use.” Rassen means helix, and refers to the DNA-like shape used to link the two together.
Another design in the series is kamiai, or interlock. “We put a gap on one of the four sides of the square shaped chopstick, and embedded a magnet, so that the two would snap together in one piece when they are flipped and fitted to each other.
We placed the magnets towards the outside of each chopstick, so that the chopsticks don’t come together accidentally while someone is using them to eat.”
Congratulations Daft Punk.

Nike Sportswear 2014 All-Star Crescent City Collection
The 2014 Nike Basketball All-Star sneakers will of course be accompanied by a set of Nike Sportswear models also focusing on the New Orleans locale of this year’s festivities. That group, on display for the first time ever right here, includes Nike Flystepper 2K3 model (Which features a particularly interesting Alligator style texture). Watch for the 2014 All-Star sneakers from Nike Sportswear to release on February 13th, 2014.
A Hanging Light Made Out of Sand
Thought this thing was pretty cool. Barcelona-based design studio Alien and Monkey used traditional ceramics techniques to create a hanging lamp out of actual sand. The only bummer? At the end of its (very long) lifecycle, it will eventually crumble back to sand dust, but for the forceable future, this is a nice conversation piece to have in your beach house. Get it here.
Andre Saraiva Presents Six Piss Under Trailer
Andre Saraiva joins forces with Italian photo publication Toilet Paper and French fashion magazineL’Officiel Hommes to present a trailer to the group’s latest collaborative endeavor. Titled “Six Piss Under,” the name plays off of the common phrase for the deceased but in true Maurizio Cattelan style. Those already familiar with Toilet Paper Magazine will be accustomed to the trailer’s subject matter, but for those watching this with no prior knowledge of past works, prepare to be asking a lot of questions.
1985 Porsche 911 Targa
The Porsche 911 lineup entered 1985 with coupe, cabriolet, and Targa body styles, all renamed Carrera. There were few other changes, but the previous year had seen a displacement increase from 3.0 to 3.2 liters, which brought more torque that made for even greater low-speed tractability.
Ghost Recon: Alpha (Short Film)
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Alpha sees a team led by Ghost Leader infiltrate a trade at a Russian depot between a general and a mysterious other figure. I don’t want to give too much away. But there’s some impressive hi-tech weaponry in the mix.
Directors: François Alaux, Hervé de Crécy
Writers: François Alaux, Greg Pruss, 2 more credits »
Stars: Keith Gilmore, Mark Ivanir, Chook Sibtain

This surfing video shot with a drone and a GoPro at Banzai Pipeline will blow you away
Pipeline Winter 2013 from Eric Sterman on Vimeo.
Banzai Pipeline in Oahu, Hawaii is a surf spot that serves up some of the largest and deadliest waves in the world. If you can hold your own above its razor sharp reef, the surfing community will respect you forever.
Using a GoPro camera and a DJI Phantom quadcopter, aerial photographer Eric Sterman has captured the world’s top surfers taming these massive waves.
The result is a truly breathtaking video from a perspective which used to be impossible for filmmakers to achieve without hiring a helicopter. I’ve watched a few surfing films before (Billabong Odyssey and The Endless Summer are my personal favorites) but this is by far the best footage I’ve ever seen from Pipeline.
