Nic Fiddian-Green: The Horse Sculpture
Fiddian-Green was at Reschio, working on a commission for the owner, Count Antonio Bolza. And, of course, the subject matter of his massive sculpture was the horse, in this case Count Antonio’s favourite stallion, Punto, born and bred at Reschio. Ever since he saw a fifth-century B.C. carving of the head of a horse of Selene from the Parthenon at the British Museum he has worked at perfecting the form of the horse’s head, as well as mastering the ancient ‘lost wax’ technique. He works in clay, plaster, beaten lead and marble, and he oversees the casting into bronze himself. Fiddian-Green’s colossal, classically inspired equine heads are exhibited around the world in prominent locations, including ‘Still water ‘, the 30-foot head of a drinking horse right next to the Marble Arch in London.
Of his work at Castello Di Reschio, Fiddian-Green said in a statement: “At Reschio, I found new inspiration not only from the study of these wonderful Andalusian horses, but from the light, the smell, the hills, the sense of ancient peace that pervades the land from the days when St. Francis wandered through these hills, and before, way back to the time of the Etruscans. In fact the very air that fills this land upon which Reschio sits has ignited a new fire in my work.” – Bill TIkos

Hinode by Tetsuka Niiyama
This is a CG movie that depicts saltation and growth of life in the sea using jewelry as the motif for illustrating the theme “Jewels of Sea.” It creates mystifying and attractive scenery by the ores resembling creatures of sea and its transforming refraction and reflection of light that are affected by the organic moves.

Hypebeast Spaces: The Offices of St. Alfred
Established by the same folks behind KICKS/HI, Chicago’s St. Alfred has evolved into not only one of Chicago’s premier lifestyle shops, but one of the most highly regarded across the country. Having worked with industry heavyweights like Nike, Converse, New Era, Reebok, Vans, and Gatorade to artists like Dalek and Mr. Cartoon, St. Alfred has become a one-stop shop for everything from Stussy, Undefeated, Norse Projects, visvim and WTAPS, to iconic labels like Ray-Ban and Red Wing alongside its own in-house designs. For the latest edition of Spaces, we were fortunate enough to sit down with the brains behind the store at their unified workspace — located just a few doors down from the shop itself. Collectively handling both the buying and day-to-day operations for the store, Frank DiGiovanni, David Robinson and Joe Shaefer sat down to discuss the workspace, the shop itself, and the “breath of fresh air” that the separation provides in fostering creativity and development of the St. Alfred brand.
Poetic Cosmos of the Breath by Tomás Saraceno
Poetic Cosmos of the Breath was an experimental solar dome created by artist Tomas Saraceno. It was launched at dawn on 22 September 2007 at Gunpowder Park, Essex, UK. Commissioned by The Arts Catalyst.
Saraceno is an artist and architect whose utopian visions for cities that float in the air has led him to create a series of experimental structures such as balloons or inflatable modular platforms that can be inhabited and exploit natural energies.
For The Arts Catalyst’s 2nd International Artists Airshow, Saraceno was commissioned to create one of these experimental structures. Despite being postponed due to heavy rain, this successful launch was finally achieved in September.

Kidult tags Maison Martin Margiela Brussels
There was once a day when Margiela was a brand known by only those in the know, an almost industry insider’s secret. Times have changed, and Maison Martin Margiela is as popular as ever – perhaps more popular than Margiela himself had ever planned for. Parisian graffiti artist, Kidult has taken to the brands Brussels store, as he’s done with so many famous fashion houses over the past year. I have a feeling this may never have happened if it weren’t for Kanye and H&M?
The Mummy by Martin Ansin
I freakin’ love this poster artwork.
Limited edition screenprinted poster for the classic 1932 horror film The Mummy, starring Boris Karloff. A variant version has the film title and credits carefully translated to ancient egyptian hieroglyphs by an egyptologist at the University of Chicago, which is nuts.
Craig Redman’s Obama Cover for New York Magazine
Barack Obama by artist Craig Redman. Staying true to his graphical style that we have learned to love through various interesting projects over the last years, the cover is very minimalist, featuring the face of re-elected president Obama. You can pick up the new New York Magazine Issue from newsstands now. I’ll def be grabbing a copy.
KAWS Wraps MTA Subway Train Inside and Out for Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
How the tables have turned…
KAWS was started out a former graffiti artist turned gallery artist, enemy to the MTA, now has an entire train officially covered in his art, riding through the city.
New York artist Kaws surprises us every time. Months ago first news came out that he would be the 5th living artist (the others being Takashi Murakami, Tim Burton, Jeff Koons, and Tom Otterness) to have a balloon in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. But it all goes a little further – Kaws also created artworks to wrap a full MTA Subway Train inside and out in his art, to promote the parade.
