Waves by Daniel Palacios
A long piece of rope represents three dimensionally a series of waves floating in space, as well as producing sounds from the physical action of their movement: the rope which creates the volume also simultaneously creates the sound by cutting through the air, making up a single element.
Depending on how we may act in front of it, according to the number of observers and their movements, it will pass from a steady line without sound to chaotic shapes of irregular sounds (the more movement there is around the installation) through the different phases of sinusoidal waves and harmonic sounds.
But even though this could seem like a mere representation of what we can’t see for ourselves, beyond the persistence of vision, it connects with our most visceral side, combining the intangible beauty of the represented graphic with the brutality of the sound it produces, creating a hypnotic environment of audible results and unique visual stimulations.

Where Things Come From
Hardy Seiler’s finished Bachelor project – a short animated trailer for a fictional education tv-series.
Monocle Magazine: Neighbourhood Sheung Wan
Sheung Wan is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Hong Kong, and with its old low-rise buildings and ancient printing presses it’s a place where the past has largely survived. It’s now also home to a growing influx of international designers, new boutiques, cafés and more. Monocle visits to find out whether this delicate balance of old and new – the source of the area’s distinctive character – can last in a city like Hong Kong where property development is rampant and rents are skyrocketing.

Adidas asked The Art Box Collection & Paperlux to develop a present for the players of the All Blacks Rugby team and 40 partners.
“Alex Sun and Richard Lange developed 70 personalized and individual boxes together with our Creative Director Max Kuehne. This unique cherrywod box is etched with motives developed by the moko-artist Rangi Kipa from New Zealand. The doors can be pushed open into 4 directions and generate 4 different mokos. Inside the box, personalized Sennheiser headphones and an individualised book are found – each covered with the original material of the famous black jersey. Daydreaming with… The Hong Kong Edition
Daydreaming with…The Hong Kong Edition, a groundbreaking multi-media exhibition of over 30 local and international award-winning artists, makes its Asia debut at the ArtisTree, from 4 May to 7 June 2012. The pioneering exhibition is proudly supported by Swire Properties, a long-term patron of the arts.
The exhibition is a unique opportunity for visitors to experience multi-media artworks by leading creatives in Asia such as Cang Xin, Li Wei, Wing Shya, Prodip Leung, Jayne Dyer and Huang Rui, alongside celebrated artists from Europe and the US. This is a unique and visceral exhibition that develops the original concept of the Daydreaming with… James Lavelle London show, which achieved world-wide acclaim in 2010 with its innovative examination of the relationship between art and music.
The Hong Kong edition of Daydreaming with… is curated by James Lavelle (of UNKLE / Mo’Wax fame) & Hong Kong installation artist and painter Simon Birch and presented by Future Industries, an innovative Hong Kong-based art organization. The artists’ have each reacted to exclusive music composed by UNKLE, or have worked alongside Simon Birch and James Lavelle to create new work. The multi-media event which includes film, sculpture, painting and performance, celebrates artforms that cross borders; visitors partake in a multi-sensory dialogue that explores the marriage of music and art.
This exciting new edition of Daydreaming with.. features work by leading European artists such as Jamie Shovlin, fresh from a solo exhibition at London’s Haunch of Venison, Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton-Jones, masterly in their manipulation of light to create visually arresting images and Emma Richardson, of Band of Skulls, whose large-scale paintings and drawings examine the human form and symmetry. The exhibition will also debut a new large scale triptych of painting by the acclaimed collective Shynola. Black Dog Films will also curate a room of video-installations in collaboration with UNKLE, including new work by Jonas Åkerlund, Sophie Muller, Factory 15 and Toby Dye.
Alongside this British talent will be an innovative programme of international and Hong Kong artists, including Li Wei, Huang Rui, Prodip Leung, Cang Xin and Wing Shya.
The exhibition will be held at ArtisTree, the 20,000 sq.ft. multi-purpose space on the first floor of Cornwall House, TaiKoo Place (Quarry Bay MTR Exit A)

Suspended Color Fluid Photos by Luka Klikovac
The collection of the latest photos of the young artist Luka Klikovac represents an exiting and creative play of colored fluids. Through his camera lens he reveals realistic and tangible space where wondrous motions of strange forms occur, thereby creating psychedelic effects. The author is fascinated with the diversity of surreal depths and spaces created by unpredictable laws of motion of colored fluids. His imagination, artistic sensibility and knowingly caused “randomness” in a glass of water, lead viewers to an endless adventure, full of surreal and timeless scenes. When experimenting with light Luka Klikovac creates an illusion of the polar illumination that springs out from hidden fountains. Various hints and implies occur in the eyes of the beholder – materialized visions of the distant galaxies, stardust and miraculous fluorescent life forms of the Jules Vernes’ ocean depths, as well as images of brightly colored organic elements. The author allowed himself a little fun when letting disappear the reality of place and time, materialization and narrativity, and using none of digital photography visual effects. This series of images of Luka Klikovac promotes, so to speak, a specific field of abstract photos wherein he explores the possibilities of his creative expressions.
The author emphases that his vision and goal is to make people escape from the daily routine and points out that these images should be understood as Rorschach stains.

“The simple addition of dice markings to a six sided pencil makes all the difference. A little something to help you pass the time, entertain the children or even make decisions.”
Yuna
Yuna’s new album released today.
Music is one of the most powerful forces of unification. It has the power to heal, the power to help, the power to inspire, and the power to change.
Yuna understands the importance of music and has the ability to write songs that transcend any and all boundaries. With her soft vocals and warm acoustic guitar, this singer-songwriter crafts intriguing and infectious ruminations on life, love, and so much more.
Growing up in Malaysia, Yuna was first inspired by the universal appeal of acts like No Doubt, The Cranberries, and Fiona Apple. At the age of 19, while in law school, she picked up a guitar and began to fervently write. She released her self-titled EP in Malaysia in 2008. The single “Deeper Conversation” became a massive success and went on to win the title of Best English Song at the 2009 AIM Awards, Malaysia’s national music awards. Yuna swept the ceremony, garnering Best Pop Song and Song of the Year for her Malay song, “Dan Sebenarnya”.
Yuna joined FADER Label in summer 2010 and released her digital EP Decorate in March 2011, which had fans, critics from Billboard, KEXP, The New York Post, and even Russell Simmons himself, who raved, “an amazing new singer…her music is incredible”, all instantly praising her talents.
Also in 2011, SPIN featured Yuna in their Buzzcatcher piece, “Eight Bands You Need to Hear Now” and she gave a stellar performance before a packed audience at MTV Iggy’s “Best New Band in the World” concert in New York City. Yuna was a finalist in the “Best New Band in the World” competition and the show aired live on MTV’s HD Screen in New York’s legendary Times Square and was also streamed live worldwide on MTVIggy.com.
In January 2012, Yuna released “Live Your Life”, the first single from her forthcoming full-length album. It started getting airplay immediately at Sirius – The Loft, KCRW and KROQ. The music video premiered on MTV2 and was featured on the homepage of VEVO.com. Yuna’s self-titled album will be released on April 24, 2012.
