Gears of War 3: OG Slick “Getting Up” Video

LA street artist Slick talks applying his graffiti and artwork all over the environments in Gears of War 3. It’s such a cool opportunity for an artist to be able to bomb a computer game. It’s interesting to hear about his process behind the colours, different materials and layers to each piece of work for the game.

NIKE CHOSEN: JUST DO IT

Nike are definitely going for their piece of the extreme sports market with this video. It’s impressive. My only criticism would be, even though it got me pumped it was almost boarder line trying too hard. I guess you can when you have the budgets Nike has. Either way it’s an awesome vid. Nike have never done things half-ass.

The Devil’s Bible

I try to keep an open mind to all ‘the unknown’, I don’t believe in one particular thing other than that of good and evil. This was an interesting watch, because what really grabbed me was not the religious aspect of ‘The Devil’s Bible’, but the artistic side to it. It reminded me of one of my visual diaries. I loved the type setting, the illustrations, how the ink was made, the paper stock used and the dedication of years to create it. It became a very inspiring watch. Thanks for the find Sonya

Experiment No.1: Skateboard Shades

Experiment No. 1 – Skateboard Shades from Shwood Eyewear on Vimeo.

Love the concept of recycling snapped decks and I really want a pair of these.

Follow Shwood’s own Eric Singer as he meets up with Keith Hufnagel and others to claim the streets of LA in pursuit of Shwood’s latest experiment, sunglasses made from broken skateboard decks. Crafted entirely in Shwood’s local woodshop, this one-of-a-kind pair of sunglasses was created out of curiosity, just to see what was possible. For more of Shwood’s experiments visit: ExperimentWithNature.com

Based in Portland, Oregon Shwood creates handcrafted wooden eyewear using fine exotic hardwoods. Shwood’s in-house manufacturing process merges precision technology with classic skilled craftsmanship to create a timeless art form. Every step from veneering and precision lens cutting, to shaping and finishing is conducted in our own Portland-based workshop to promise an entirely handcrafted eyewear piece. Alley Cats

Everyday I walk home from work, I’m bound to see at least three stray cats cruising the back streets in their playground that is Hong Kong. There is no shortage of stray cats here, especially around Soho. This city is the perfect playground for them. They even have a place called Cat Alley where you sometimes feel like you’re being stalked by a pack of ten cats. I love animals and every time I see one it reminds me of my cat back in Australia called Sake. Unfortunately, these aren’t really cats you should pick up. I saw this very friendly one on my way home from work the other day.

Holman House by Durbach Block Jaggers

A Picasso painting inspired this cliff-top house near Sydney by architects Durbach Block Jaggers. The curved forms of the kitchen and living room, which project over the sea supported by four angled stilts, are derived from the torso of Picasso’s The Bather. The two-storey Holman House was completed atop the 70 metre-high cliff at Dover Heights.
