Nike + Jeremy Lin Logo Concept by AJ Dimarucot

AJ Dimarucot has been inspired by the Jeremy Lin story, but the designer and basketball fan has taken his interest several steps further by developing a logo and brand identity around the New York Knicks point guard. AJ describes the unofficial project as a simple exercise to hone his skills, but the results are just as impressive as the mural of Manny Pacquiao he did back in 2009. He used Jeremy’s initials as a starting off point, as well as the number 17, the player’s uniform number.

Lana Del Rey & The Notorious B.I.G. : Born Ready To Die Mixtape

DJ and mixtape composer Terry Urban –

Hello everyone, Im gonna get right to it… In honor of Biggie’s passing 15 years ago on March 9, 1997, I wanted to do a special project. Mick Boogie and I honored the anniversary of his passing with a special project called Unbelievable, which was hosted by Sean “Diddy” Combs and exceded 500k downloads online. But to pay tribute this time, I wanted to do something different. Merge music styles. Bridge audiences together in new ways. So I proudly present to you along with the homies from Dope Couture… Lana Del Rey and Notorious Big… Born Ready To Die. The music from Lana’sBorn to Die and the lyrics from Biggie’s Ready to Die… still timeless after all these years. It’s a perfect marriage… dark and mysterious… soulful and gritty. Lana told Vogue Magazine that Biggie was one of her biggest musical influences… and now… he is her musical collaborator. I present to you…Born Ready To Die.

6Months Film Tralier

‘6MONTHS’ is a look at what can be achieved in a relatively short period of time; it’s a demonstration of what a lot of hard work can result in; it’s a celebration of travel, adventure, mateship and the incredible waves that were on offer during the Winter of 2011.

From early April through until the end of September, Ewan Donnachie chased waves high and low at a frenetic pace, along with good mates Jase Finlay, Damien Martin, Chris James, Nick Gornall and assorted other riders.

It was a testing time; last-minute calls, delays, cancelled flights, lost baggage, injuries, unreliable swell patterns and adverse weather conditions were inevitable components of nearly every mission.
But the boys put their heads down, committed and reaped the reward of unspoiled perfection.

The film provides a rare insight into the lives and mindsets of these free-surfers and the equally dedicated photographers and filmers who document their exploits.
It’s not all fame and fortune; it’s very rarely glamorous. But as each and every one will attest, it’s most certainly worth the effort.

A film by Ewan Donnachie and Lucas Vazquez, ‘6MONTHS’ aims to inspire.
Save your coin, get some mates together, do a little research and hit the road to discover what’s out there waiting for you.

7th Street Residence by Pulltab Design

The owners of this duplex apartment, located on a beautiful tree lined street in the East Village, retained Pulltab Design to create a unique living environment for a young family of four.

As a starting point, the clients requested that their 2,400 square foot apartment be selectively renovated and that the new design revolve around not only creative architectural additions but also the thoughtful selection of free standing furniture and lighting.

In the schematic design phase, initial conversations revolved around modern masters such as Geoffrey Bawa, Carlo Scarpa and Richard Neutra. Based on these conversations, it became apparent that the new design should strive to create a warm and open living environment with unique handcrafted detailing.

Materials such as stained concrete, American black walnut, bronze and steel were selected along with modernist finishes, including hand applied active patinas, true pigment paints and high gloss lacquer surfaces.

The heart of the apartment centers around the living/dining areas. As part of the architectural construction, a new cantilevered dining ‘pod’, extending from the 5th floor slab, was added to increase the size of the kitchen. On the outside surface. of this pod, a custom planted garden wall was installed with the intent of creating a focal point, with a slightly mysterious quality, for the living room.

In combination with the vertically planted wall above, a shallow reflecting pool, custom fabricated from folded steel sheets, was placed in the living
room. This reflecting pool functions both as a means to capture water droplets, from the vertical garden wall’s concealed irrigation system, and also allows for the addition of a calming indoor water garden, stocked complete with colorful goldfish.

On the east wall, a new double height panel system was installed, assembled from painted furniture grade plywood. The panels, both fixed and functioning, are separated by a pattern of reveals which add both texture, interest and most importantly a sense of scale, to what was originally an overwhelming surface.

Several of the individual panels, denoted by custom routed hand pulls, open to reveal (from right to left) a chess table, a large 8′ long claro walnut dining table and a fold down illuminated bar with glass shelving.

To delineate the function of each panel, three colors were chosen: a bright orange, a glowing yellow (for the concealed bar) and a deep blue. These colors add an active layer to the space while tracing their connection back to Piet Mondrian’s inspirational composition paintings, from the 1920′s and 30′s.

Kanye West 2012 Fall Collection

You’ve got to give it to Mr West. After a scathing review at his last show in Paris. Many ‘first time’ designers may of run for the hills. But instead he’s come back with a much more refined Fall collection. I’m not going dissect his designs, I’ll leave that to fashion critics. I just respect the guy for continuing to push his creative talents.

Style.com article review –

Kanye West can’t wait to carve his niche in the fashion hierarchy. At least that’s how his choice of show venue—the same space Alber Elbaz used to celebrate a decade at Lanvin a few days earlier—translated to some skeptics in tonight’s audience. And, truth be told, skepticism was rife after West’s inauspicious Paris debut as a designer last season. But the element of surprise has always been one of the secret weapons of his music, and it popped up in his sophomore fashion effort by simple virtue of the fact that West won a much-improved badge.

He reduced his first collection’s profligacy to a more concise statement in leather, velvet, and astrakhan, most often in black and always wrapping a legging or pencil-skirted lean silhouette. It was a declaration that West is learning self-discipline in design, and he amplified it aggressively with the martial music, the harsh makeup, the gladiatorial footwear, the odd croc collars. The show’s tight edit left little room for anything beyond this core statement, but the hard edge still had some light and shade: the use of dévoré, for instance, the more relaxed sweatshirt shapes, and the clutch-coat decorum of the final outfit.

West unleashed his showmanship with a finale that featured gothic go-karts speeding out of the darkness of the Halle Freyssinet. Later, Azealia Banks performed at his party, just as she had at Karl Lagerfeld’s dinner a month or so ago. Like Lagerfeld, West has always known how to make worlds collide, in his music, at least. How that talent might translate into an asset for his fashion remains up in the air.

KONY 2012 from INVISIBLE CHILDREN on Vimeo.

I received a late night Facebook message last night from a mate (Georgie Gee) back in Australia telling me if I hadn’t seen this video. I should watch it and see if it moves me as much as what it did him. I loaded up the video and can honestly say it had such an impact on me that I will be doing everything I can to support this cause. Please watch the video and help raise awareness of the inhumane acts going on in Africa.

KONY 2012 is a film and campaign by Invisible Children that aims to make Joseph Kony famous, not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice.
