Street League Skateboarding 2013: Kansas City
Street League recap –
Wow, the 9 Club got a lot more crowded in KC.
At the Nike SB World Tour’s first stop of the year in Kansas City, everything came together perfectly: the crowd was hyped; the world’s most elite skaters stepped up; the course was bananas; the webcast was the best of any live event; and the new SLS On Demand feature dropped, offering instant replays of every trick, every run, everything. In fact, with the advent of the incredible SLS On Demand feature, we can keep this recap almost as brief as Ishod Wair’s shorts. Well, not that short.
All kidding aside, if you love skateboarding, you gotta love the way the KC event unfolded. With an all-time display of 9 Club tricks, this was a banger of a contest.
That is, unless you’re Sean Malto. He was on his game all the way to the Final 8, and even threw on a fresh new jersey with his name across the back—repping the KC Chiefs in red and yellow. The crowd was ready to give their all for the hometown hero. And that’s when the wheels fell off—literally. Rolling to his first trick of his first run of the Finals, it looked like his kingpin broke. In fact, a loose kingpin nut came off his truck, sending his axle rolling the other way—simply a careless mistake setting up your board, and it can’t be blamed on anyone but himself. (Who else adjusts the tightness of your trucks?) In any case, Malto’s first run was clipped off before it got going. And when everyone else in the Finals nailed their first run, Malto was left behind the eight-ball. Malto’s show for the home crowd and shot at $100,000 bucks, all lost to one loose kingpin nut. That’s a tough, um, pill to swallow.

An official preview has surfaced of the latest gameplay footage on the Playstaytion 4 and Xbox One. Activation Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg guarantee fans that Ghost will entertain at a steady 60fps, promising ”It will be the best Call of Duty game we’ve ever made.” Check out the insane graphics.

Ferrari 512 BBi is A Piece of Art
When Holger Schubert created his studio-garage space, he did what any self-respecting, Ferrari-loving, minimalist architect would do: he took his work-of-art BB 512i and built everything around it. As any showcased work of art deserves to be, Holger’s car is in the spotlight and on the pedestal that is the studio garage, which was designed and built for the specific purpose of working and living alongside the Ferrari. Holger shares the details of his car and of his enviable space, which includes a 16-foot driveway bridge, a ramp to roll the car outside to start, and some of the best views a car can take in of the Pacific Ocean.

Seth Godin at Creative Mornings
Seth Godin has written fourteen books that have been translated into more than thirty languages. Every one has been a bestseller. He writes about the post-industrial revolution, the way ideas spread, marketing, quitting, leadership and most of all, changing everything.
American Way Magazine calls him, “America’s Greatest Marketer,” and his blog is perhaps the most popular in the world written by a single individual. His latest book, We Are All Weird, calls for end of mass and for the beginning of offering people more choices, more interests and giving them more authority to operate in ways that reflect their own unique values, and Seth once again breaks the traditional publishing model by releasing it through The Domino Project. His recent Kickstarter for his newest book (The Icarus Deception out in January 2013) broke records for its size and the speed that it reached its goal.
As an entrepreneur, he has founded dozens of companies, most of which failed. Yoyodyne, his first internet company, was funded by Flatiron and Softbank and acquired by Yahoo! in 1998. It pioneered the use of ethical direct mail online, something Seth calls Permission Marketing. He was VP of Direct Marketing at Yahoo! for a year.
His latest company, Squidoo.com, is ranked among the top 125 sites in the US (by traffic) by Quantcast. It allows anyone (even you) to build a page about any topic you’re passionate about. The site raises money for charity and pays royalties to its million plus members.

DC Shoes’ Headquarters for Hypebeast Spaces
Since its foundation as Droors Clothing by Ken Block and Damon Way, DC Shoes has been one of the pinnacle growth stories in action sports. The brand has grown immensely since its inception, in part due to its unwavering dedication to supporting the activities it loves the most. This chiefly involves skateboarding, and the brand has continually maintained a decorated roster of the most prolific professional skaters in addition to other action sport athletes. Behind the scenes, DC also maintains a committed team of professional designers to push the envelope, and from ‘Unilite’ to ‘Super Suede’ technology, their efforts have been successful. We got the opportunity to view DC’s headquarters in Huntington Beach, speaking with Ben Kelly, the skate category director, as well as Wes Kremer, Nyjah Huston, and Mike Mo Capaldi about their professional models. Watch Dogs: PS4 Gameplay Preview
New Watch Dogs PS4 gameplay preview.
Watch Dogs is an open world video game in which players control a man named Aiden Pearce (voiced by Noam Jenkins), who can hack into various electronic devices tied to the city’s central operating system (ctOS), allowing various methods for the player to solve numerous objectives. Examples include hacking into people’s phones to retrieve bank data and steal funds, triggering malfunctions in equipment to distract other characters and hacking into traffic lights to cause collisions. Players can also receive information on civilians via augmented reality feeds, providing the player with information on demographics, health and potential behaviour. Objectives showcased in presentations include finding specific targets to kill, evading the police and following potential victims in order to stop their would-be killers. Combat utilizes a combination of stealth components and parkour, along with the mechanics of a cover-based third-person shooter.[10] The game features an elusive online multiplayer element in which another player can control surveillance cameras in an attempt to hack the main player.
