Angelina Jolie as Maleficent in Disney’s classic Sleeping Beauty
After the dismal version of Snow White at the cinemas. I’m going to be dark if they f#ck this classic up. I remember watching this with my little sister and Maleficent was a cool evil character in Sleeping Beauty. I think Angelina Jolie is perfect for this role. Due for realise March 2013.
Marc Newson’s Complete Works to Date
Taschen collects design icon Marc Newson’s complete works to date in a massive 610-page design bible covering everything from his restaurants to his foray into watches:
“This comprehensive tome leaves no stone unturned in cataloguing all of Newson’s works to date, from early pieces such as Lockheed Lounge (which holds the world record for the highest price paid for a piece of designer furniture, at over two million dollars) through designs of household objects and more recent, large scale projects such as the Ford 021C concept car, the Kelvin40 plane, the interior of Qantas’s A380, and the Aquariva boat.”

The Art of Packing from Louis Vuitton
Like most people. I HATE PACKING. I can never travel light and as much as I try to only pack what I need. I always end up taking way too much so I have options. This clever video by Louis Vuitton show’s you the best way to fold shirts and how to fit a considerable amount of gear in one carry on bag. Worth the watch.
Hall of Fame 2012 Summer Lookbook

Kate Upton by Terry Richardson for GQ
Kate Upton seems to be the hottest subject to shoot right now. After her cover appearance on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, Terry Richardson outtakes, Zoo York Skateboard campaign and a rumoured fling with Kanye West last year. So when I did my weekly magazine shop it was hard to miss Kate Upton on the front of the latest edition of GQ magazine. Here’s just a taste of the shots.
OTHERS by Hypebeast: Hong Kong’s Yardbird Restaurant
This place is my home away from home. I swear I could eat there nearly every night and I’ve been known to do three nights in a row! The staff are super friendly and deliver excellent service and now become good friends of mine over time. Matt (owner) and I share stories about our love of skateboarding, clothing brands, artists and messy nights out. Lindsey (owner) the other half of Yardbird, has her finger on the pulse in HK for music and arts. Which makes the two of them, the perfect team. BUT. Most importantly, the food is amazing. You’ll never have this style of food anywhere else. If I have friends or clients in town. I ALWAYS take them here to experience the next level of Hong Kong.
I recently spent my birthday eve there for dinner which turned into Matt and the staff singing me happy birthday and forcing me to scull two bottles of their signature Yardbird Sake which finished with me not remembering the rest of the night and having to back up the following night for the ‘official’ birthday dinner I was having at Yardbird. They def know how to look after their friends and customers and thats a big part of why I go back.
I should also note, they play great hip hop and funk too!
Hong Kong’s Yardbird restaurant has become a de facto gathering point for some of the city’s most creative minds. Owners Lindsay Jang and Matt Abergel managed to put together more than just an amalgamation of food, drink and friends in a relatively short period of time; Yardbird has established itself as a weekly jaunt for many of Hong Kong’s artist and influential members of the creative community who crave a contemporary take on Japanese foods.
Their advice for aspiring restauranteurs? Don’t pay anyone to teach you how to cook, start from the bottom, and be prepared to work extremely hard.

Curvy Casey Key Guest House by TOTeMS Architecture
Located in Florida, the Casey Key Guest House was designed by Sarasota-based firm TOTeMS Architecture. The owner requested a design that was a “house in the trees”, including one bedroom, bath, and living area with kitchenette.
The guest residence, located on a barrier island, is set within a mature oak hammock along Sarasota Bay. The structure is inspired by the character of the live oaks, which have been shaped by the prevailing coastal winds from the west. Curved glulam pine beams, which are anchored to the elevated concrete slab at their base, curve up and over the entire space, reflect the arching quality of the live oak limbs. Ship lap cypress siding is used to clad the exterior walls and the interior walls between the glulam beams.

Aria
Aria from Fountain Type on Vimeo.
The inspiration for this typeface came from the epigraph on a frame of a nineteenth century painting. I was fascinated by the peculiar capitals of the inscription. The high contrast, and the overall quirkiness, especially the tail of the R and the oblique stems on the M, was interesting. I decided to draw a display font with high contrast and a vertical axis, in a reference to the transitional form. Still I wanted to capture the spirit of the original letters, which to me are so imbued with Romanticism. This approach allowed for some exuberance on the regular style, but also led to more calligraphic letterforms in the italic – in which “the flow of the curves” lead the way.
