Gears of War 3: OG Slick “Getting Up” Video

LA street artist Slick talks applying his graffiti and artwork all over the environments in Gears of War 3. It’s such a cool opportunity for an artist to be able to bomb a computer game. It’s interesting to hear about his process behind the colours, different materials and layers to each piece of work for the game.

NIKE CHOSEN: JUST DO IT

Nike are definitely going for their piece of the extreme sports market with this video. It’s impressive. My only criticism would be, even though it got me pumped it was almost boarder line trying too hard. I guess you can when you have the budgets Nike has. Either way it’s an awesome vid. Nike have never done things half-ass.

Ken Block unveils new multi-hoonable Ford Fiesta HFHV

Ken Block has got to be one of the most envied people in the world. Not only is he a professional rally racer with Monster World Rally Team, but he’s also a co-founder of DC-Shoes which is one of the most popular brands for skateboard, snowboarding, motorcross…. Pretty much all extreme sports.

His latest project has been the Ford Fiesta HFHV which is a hybrid function (not like a Prius) but is adaptable for use in each of the three types of rally competition: stage rallies, rallycross and Gymkhana.

The car is based on Block’s Ford Fiesta RS WRC, albeit with a 2.0-liter turbo four capable of producing as much as 600 horsepower and 665 pound-feet of torque, depending on configuration. And configurability is what this car’s all about. By swapping the wheels and tires and adjusting everything from the suspension to the engine mapping, the HFHV can be quickly set up for any of these three functions. Believe it or not, Block’s Monster crew says it can even be street-legal, depending on the setup.

The video is very cleverly executed to show you exactly what modifications are made for each race type.

Holman House by Durbach Block Jaggers

A Picasso painting inspired this cliff-top house near Sydney by architects Durbach Block Jaggers. The curved forms of the kitchen and living room, which project over the sea supported by four angled stilts, are derived from the torso of Picasso’s The Bather. The two-storey Holman House was completed atop the 70 metre-high cliff at Dover Heights.

Tree Hotel in Harads – Sweden

I love these designs and has inspired me to build my own one day or at least go to Sweden to experience the tree-top hotel room by Swedish architects Cyrén & Cyrén. You access the room via a bridge leading from the hilly forest to an entrance on the roof. The Cabin hangs from the trees and has a roof terrace overlooking the forest. This project is one of five rooms of the Tree Hotel in Harads, northern Sweden.

My latest toy! FPG MAGPUL BB Gun Folding gun

My BB Gun from Luke Norris on Vimeo.

Just picked up this awesome FPG MAGPUL BB Gun Folding gun from a store in Causeway Bay called EX.I.T. It’s gas powered and folds up into a small compact case. It seemed fitting to shoot it in a dodgy little chinese joint down the road that reminded me of something you’d find in a village in China.

— Semi-/Fully Automatic Shooting Mode
— Full Metal Slide & 2inch longer Barrel assembly
— 49rd Long Magazine with Magpul Magazine Cover

Full Size 2011 Ferrari Steering Wheel Replica

I sat in front of my computer for about five minutes looking at this steering wheel trying to figure out what each button, switch and knob did. But still no idea! Either way, it’s impressive and I’d love to have one. This is the same steering wheel used by Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa in the 2011 F1 season.

This superbly detailed and finely finished replica of the Ferrari 150° Italia full size steering wheel is hand built from genuine carbon fibre and is fitted with moving buttons, paddles and switches. The replica comes with a red leather base and a clear dust cover. Each one of the limited edition of 250 pieces comes with a certificate of authenticity and a unique numbered plaque on the base.”

Jay-Z “Decoded” campaign wins Integrated Grand Prix and Titanium at Cannes

Article by: Fast Company

New York agency Droga5 continued its hot streak at the Cannes International Festival of Creativity with big wins for its Bing/Jay-Z “Decoded” campaign in the key Titanium/Integrated Lions category. The campaign won the Integrated Grand Prix and nabbed a Titanium Lion, winning over a jury that was “looking for the bravest idea.”

The Titanium Lion was launched in 2003 to recognize emerging forms of brand work that wouldn’t neatly fit into the existing award categories; the Integrated Lion was added in 2005, though the definition of what falls under each title has been fluid.

Jury chair Bob Scarpelli, the chairman of DDB Worldwide, acknowledged that the definition of an integrated campaign has shifted and that today, “the best ideas are integrated into culture.” Scarpelli called the campaign, which has also picked up Grand Prix in the Outdoor and Film Craft categories, “bold, innovative, interactive, immersive. It’s creating media.” There was no Titanium Grand Prix awarded.
