Stacking Green House in Vietnam

The architects at Vo Trong Nghia Co., ltd. completed a modern residence in Saigon, Vietnam, for a thirty-years-old couple and their mother, in the shape of a tube, 4m wide and 20m high. Entitled “Stacking Green“, it stands out due to its original facades, featuring a large number of terraces, each adorned with flower pots. Here is more from the architects: “The front and back façades are entirely composed of layers of concrete planters cantilevered from two side walls.

The house structure is a RC frame structure widely used in Vietnam. The partition walls are very few in order to keep interior fluency and view of green façades from every point of the house. Natural ventilation through the façades and 2 top-lights allow this house to save a big energy in a harsh climate in Saigon. Concerning these ecological approaches, we referred a lot to the bioclimatic principles of traditional Vietnamese courtyard house“”. The green façades and roof top garden shelter the family from polution, noise and sunlight.

Kanye West to Present Ready-to-Wear Line at Paris Fashion Week

Karla Otto, Kanye West’s PR agency, confirmed to WWD that West will show at 9.30 p.m. on March 6. The venue has yet to be confirmed. I know he was hit pretty hard by the critics at his last show, but I appreciate that he has interests in pushing his love for fashion out side of the hip hop scene. I wish him good luck.

Olympus OM-D E-M5 Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera

Making a dramatic entry drenched with water droplets, Olympus finally introduced the OM-D E-M5 Digital Camera last evening. Its the first camera from Olympus’ new OM-D line, a series with lineage as far back as the 1972 Olympus OM-1, then the thinnest SLR camera available. Fashioned out of durable magnesium alloy, the mirrorless camera is the latest to join the ever growing Micro Four Thirds offerings from Olympus. And while it is more expensive than the Olympus PEN Series, the E-M5 also offers more feature. The sensor also allows a maximum ISO range of 25,600 for a faithful color reproduction and an auto focus system capable of continuous shooting at 9 frames-per-second. One other unique feature is it’s 5-axis image stabilizer, a world’s first. In living up to its retro form factor, the E-M5 employs a new electronic viewfinder with a refresh rate of 120fps. Plus, a tilting 3-inch touchscreen OLED display for less strenuous viewing.

Comes in silver or black, the camera is virtually dust and water proof, a testament to Olympus’ craftsmanship. Fully adoptable to all Micro Four Thirds-compliant lenses and additional accessories to come, Olympus is pricing the E-M5 at US$ 999.99 for body only, US$ 1,299.99 with M.ZUIKO Digital ED 12-50 mm f3.5-6.3 EZ lens and US$ 1,099.99 with M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 14-42 mm f3.5-5.6 II R lens. Vittra Telefonplan School in Stockholm

In connection with the establishment of a new Vittra school in Stockholm, Telefonplan, Rosan Bosch has created the school’s interior with spatial divisions and significant custom design. The interior takes it point of departure in Vittra’s pedagogical principles and serves as a pedagogical tool for development in the everyday of the school. Instead of classical divisions with chairs and tables, a giant iceberg for example serves as cinema, platform and room for relaxation, and sets the frame for many different types of learning.

David Choe Just Made 200 Million USD for Painting the Facebook Office

This week Facebook announced that they will be going public in the near future. Along with the filing, they had to reveal the current ownership state of the company. In 2005 David Choe chose to be paid in stock rather than cash and it looks like that stock will be worth 200 Million USD, if Facebook will be valued on the open stock market at the estimated 100 Billion Dollar mark.

“In 2005, Mr. Choe was invited to paint murals on the walls of Facebook’s first offices in Palo Alto, Calif., by Sean Parker, then Facebook’s president. As pay, Mr. Parker offered Mr. Choe a choice between cash in the “thousands of dollars,” according to several people who know Mr. Choe, or stock then worth about the same.Mr. Choe, who has said that at the time that he thought the idea of Facebook was “ridiculous and pointless,” nevertheless chose the stock. Many “advisers” to the company at that time, which is how Mr. Choe would have been classified, would have received about 0.1 to 0.25 percent of the company, according to a former Facebook employee. That may sound like a paltry amount, but a stake that size is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, based on a market value of $100 billion. Mr. Choe’s payment is valued at roughly $200 million, according to a number of people who know Mr. Choe and Facebook executives.”
