Saint Genius + W-Base + FTC: FOR THE COUNTRY Featuring Nasty & Marco

After Japan was hit with the devastating earthquakes, tsunami and nuclear meltdown earlier this year, time’s have been tough for the people. This short documentary follows two talented Japanese fixed gear freestyle riders Teppei ‘Nasty’ Iwabuchi and Yuhei ‘Marco’ Hirose, on their first trip to San Francisco. Saint Genius shot the footage of the W-Base and FTC sponsored riders. Their skills on a fixie are very impressive, but what I found more moving was hearing their stories of how their positive attitudes and the Japanese pride in their culture has helped them overcome the natural disasters in Japan. I’ve got a lot of respect for these to dudes and wish them all the best in their future careers.

The Story Behind Ferrari’s Logo

Great watch to see the history and origin of the Ferrari logo –

“The horse was painted on the fuselage of the fighter plane of Francesco Baracca — a heroic airman of the first world war. In ’23, I met count Enrico Baracca, the hero’s father, and then his mother, countess Paulina, who said to me one day, ‘Ferrari, put my son’s prancing horse on your cars. It will bring you good luck’. The horse was, and still is, black, and I added the canary yellow background which is the colour of Modena.”

adidas Office Interior by KINZO

The adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany has had a facelift. The 1,700 staff members moved into an amazing new work space that features intertwining glass walkways made to mimic the laces of a sneaker. Berlin design company KINZO set out to create something that would reflect adidas inside and out. The “Teamplayer” space is at the heart of the new design, supporting desktops, storage and creating a multi-functional room that looks like it’s zoned into honeycombs. In other words, the KINZO design team have created a space within a space. It lets separate teams have a specific section, but not be completely cut off from the other groups working inside the “Teamplayer”. The entire WORKOUT furniture system is designed specifically to meet the needs of the team, and work together as a system, rather than functioning as just individual pieces. German furniture specialist Planmöbel partnered with KINZO to create environmentally friendly, functional furniture sealed with a monolithic surface and a powder-coated finish.

FULL PAGE SCREENSHOTS

Thanks for this great find Tyler Wolff –

Ever wanted to take a full page screen shot of a website you love? I know I’m always wishing there was a simple way to do just that. When I find a site that inspires me I normally end up with a bunch of mismatched screenshots all from a single page and this makes it hard to get a grasp of how the full page flows, not to mention the mess of screenshots I’m left with.

Luckily, I recently stumbled upon a browser extension called Awesome Screenshot that is the perfect solution for capturing full page screenshots. Available for both Safari and Chrome (firefox coming soon…), this simple extension really makes taking screenshots a breeze. Here’s what it looks like:

How To

Browse to a page that you want to capture, and click the small lens icon in the menu bar. You can take a standard screenshot of the window or choose to grab the full page. Once you choose, the page is captured and then you are free to do what you will with the screenshot.

What’s also cool about this extension is that it allows you to make annotations on the screenshot from within the browser. You can even blur sensitive information right then and there.

Capture Options

Once you’ve captured the page and made your annotations, you are shown the page below. You can share the screen shot via services like twitter and email. However, you can also instantly share the screenshot online via www.awesomescreenshot.com.

HUF 2011 Fall Lookbook

I love this concept for the latest HUF lookbook. Taking more of a creative approach with the help of LA-based collective taps photographer Brian Kelley for a bit of vintage-style flair, with appearances from Luke Clerkin, Caleb Weiss, Emilio Cuilan, Joey Pepper and Thane Wright. STOP THE WATER WHILE USING ME

Stop the Water While Using Me is a German brand of all-natural cosmetics predicated on a mutual promise. The consumer stops the water while using the products, the producers don’t use artificial ingredients, animal testing or waste energy during production. The line includes a variety of different products, including body lotion, but focuses on the places where people waste the most water, like washing hair and washing hands. Stop the Water While Using Me excludes ingredients like mineral oils, paraffin and silicone. It contains no synthetic fragrances and is packaged in minimalist, re-fillable bottles. The line doesn’t skimp on smell, though, with strong natural fragrances like rosemary grapefruit and sesame sage. It can be found at colette, or online via Stop-the-water-while-using-me.com.

Can’t wait to see the Master tonight in Hong Kong!

This will be the fourth time I’ve seen him live. If you’re reading this Scuddy. Remember the first time we saw him and went straight to work Monday morning after his gig on zero sleep? Hahaha
