50 Things You Didn’t Know About Supreme
Complex Magazine article –
Few brands are as polarizing as Supreme. Either you love it, or you hate it. But since it was founded by James Jebbia in 1994, the brand has amassed a following of disciples, collectors, skateboarders, and, yes, even haters. One thing they all have in common is an endless thirst for anything with a box logo. And with that ridiculous demand, comes stories, myths, legends, and rumors that surround the brand’s history.
But Jebbia is a quiet man. He keeps a low profile and his brand has prospered because of, not despite, that. It’s part of the allure. It’s the reason people are so loyal to the brand. There are a lot of things Supreme probably doesn’t want you to know. But the truth is out there, so here are 50 Things You Didn’t Know About Supreme.

Woodkid – The Golden Age
Yoann Lemoine, aka Woodkid, has now unveiled his projet d’art The Golden Age. His first two singles “Iron” and “Run Boy Run” have already sold 300,000 copies worldwide and the video for the latter was even nominated as Best Short Form Music Video at the Grammy Awards. The LP can be seen as his psycho-analysis, dealing with the passage between adolescence and adulthood, into that confusing hyper-reality. Coupled with rich compositions and powerful vocals, this album is something you clearly don’t want to miss.

Freemans Sporting Club to Open Tokyo Flagship
A favorite of bearded, lumberjack types since opening its doors seven years ago, Freemans Sporting Club will be bringing its distinctly American blend of menswear, barbershop and restaurant to a new frontier next month. The Taavo Somer-headed brand, in partnership with Yagi Tsusho Ltd., will launch a Tokyo flagship store in April, with two additional locations set to open in Japan over the next couple of years. Located in the Minami-Aoyama retail district, the new “Freemans Lifestyle Compound” — the first of its kind outside the U.S. — will count Thom Browne as a neighbor, and occupy a five-storey, 6,500-square-foot space designed by Somer himself. The exterior was designed to mimic the Rivington Street store, and will also feature an outdoor vertical garden, a restaurant and bar, and a barbershop. Inside, shoppers will find a unique mix of FSC sportswear, various collaborative pieces and footwear from the likes of Allen Edmonds and Viberg, along with off-the-rack, made-to-measure and bespoke suiting options and accessories. And, in keeping with Freemans’ “Made Local, Buy Local” initiative, Japanese leather goods and accessories from artisans will also be included in the mix, along with two new suit models — the semi-custom House Cut and more-affordable Freeman. Stay tuned for more on the launch.

Take My Picture by GARAGE MAGAZINE
When we set out to make this short, our intention simply was to observe the phenomenon of fashion bloggers and street style stars. As we started to review the footage, two salient trends became apparent: fashion editors frustrated by the ensuing commotion outside of shows, and the rise of “peacocking” street style stars as a result of the proliferation of blogs. This film examines these themes from both perspectives.

mastermind JAPAN Loses Exclusive Rights to Skull Logo?
mastermind JAPAN was recently involved in a legal battle with fellow Japanese brand Roen after mastermind JAPAN claimed that Roen’s similar use of a stylized skull and crossbones logo constituted a violation of its trademark rights.
The friction between the two started as late as last year when mastermind JAPAN Co., LTD issued a warning to Roen on both March 11 and June 1 before filing to have Roen’s registration of its trademark invalidated. On December 3, Roen lost the rights to its skull logo and subsequently sought to have the motion repealed by presenting its case to the Intellectual Property High Court of Japan on January 10, 2013.
Although mastermind JAPAN has on several occasions issued warnings surrounding its logo to merchants selling similar products, this is the first time it has faced a lawsuit from another brand. As for Roen, the oral proceedings of its case will take place today. Stay tuned for further info.
