Outsiders Plush Toys by Atelier Volvox

Zurich designers Atelier Volvox rescued these unloved plush toys and gave them a new lease of life by turning them inside out – eyes and all. Samuel Coendet and Lea Gerber collected the toys from second-hand shops and forgotten corners of nursery schools before cutting them open to reverse the fur. What a genius idea and a great way to recycle.

Shepard Fairey Enters Guilty Plea in Criminal Case with Associated Press

Los Angeles Times –

“Fairey admitted in 2009 to destroying documents and submitting false images in his legal battle with the AP. The news organization had accused Fairey of improperly using an AP photo of Obama in his “Hope” poster. Fairey claimed that he was covered by fair-use laws.

In 2011, the artist settled his civil case with the AP out of court.

A sentencing date has been set for July 16. The U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a release that the artist faces a maximum sentence of six months in prison and a maximum term of supervised release of one year. He also faces a maximum fine of $5,000.”

A very interesting watch – Remixing is a folk art but the techniques are the same ones used at any level of creation: copy, transform, and combine. You could even say that everything is a remix. To support this series please visit everythingisaremix.info/donate/

Bones Brigade Teaser

Stacy Peralta, director/producer of Dogtown and Z-Boys has a new film; “Bones Brigade.” A biography about the birth of modern skateboarding and the personalities that shaped it as members of the Bones Brigade team.

Walk down any street in any town, and you are destined to see someone riding a skateboard. Well, it wasn’t always like that. In the early ’80s, skateboarding was fading away until Stacy Peralta brought a profoundly talented group of outsiders together and dubbed them the Bones Brigade. This documentary chronicles their epic rise, using awesome archival footage and moving first-person accounts from Brigade members Steve Caballero, Tommy Guerrero, Tony Hawk, Mike McGill, Lance Mountain, and Rodney Mullen, among others. Through passion, drive, creativity, and a surprising sense of teamwork, they revitalized the sport and influenced generations.
